Nevada has enacted legislation (Assembly Bill 456) that will increase the state's minimum wage in several phases beginning July 1, 2020.

Assembly Bill 456:

Nevada's minimum wage differs based on whether the employer offers health benefits to the employee.

Employees Who Are Offered Health Benefits:

For employees who are offered health benefits, the minimum wage will increase as follows:

  • $8.00 per hour on July 1, 2020.
  • $8.75 per hour on July 1, 2021.
  • $9.50 per hour on July 1, 2022.
  • $10.25 per hour on July 1, 2023.
  • $11.00 per hour on July 1, 2024.

Employees Who Aren't Offered Health Benefits:

For employees who aren't offered health benefits, the minimum wage will increase as follows:

  • $9.00 per hour on July 1, 2020.
  • $9.75 per hour on July 1, 2021.
  • $10.50 per hour on July 1, 2022.
  • $11.25 per hour on July 1, 2023.
  • $12.00 per hour on July 1, 2024.

Compliance Recommendations:

Nevada employers should ensure that they pay all non-exempt employees at least the minimum wage and post an updated minimum wage notice by July 1, 2020.
