The minimum wage in Florida will increase to $8.65 per hour on January 1, 2021. All non-exempt employees in Florida must be paid at least the minimum wage.
Background:
Each year, the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity adjusts the state's minimum wage based on changes to the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers in the South Region.
Tipped Employees:
The minimum wage for tipped employees will increase to $5.63 per hour on January 1, 2021. If the employee's tips and direct cash wages fail to meet or exceed $8.65 per hour in 2021, the employer must make up the difference.
Compliance Recommendations:
Florida employers must pay all non-exempt employees at least $8.65 per hour by January 1, 2021. Florida employers must also post an updated minimum wage poster. Please contact your dedicated service professional with any questions.
