Florida Increases Minimum Wage for 2019

Overview: The minimum wage in Florida will increase to $8.46 per hour on January 1, 2019. All non-exempt employees in Florida must be paid at least the minimum wage.

Effective Date: January 1, 2019

Details:
Each year, the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity adjusts the state's minimum wage based on changes to the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers in the South Region.

Tipped Employees:
The minimum wage for tipped employees will increase to $5.44 per hour on January 1, 2019. If the employee's tips and direct cash wages fail to meet or exceed $8.46 per hour in 2019, the employer must make up the difference.

Call to Action: Florida employers must pay all non-exempt employees at least $8.46 per hour by January 1, 2019 and post an updated minimum wage poster.
