New Jersey Expands Protections for Breastfeeding Employees

The New Jersey Law Against Discrimination has been expanded to include breastfeeding, expressing milk, and related medical conditions. The law also requires employers to provide reasonable accommodations for breastfeeding women, including reasonable break time and a suitable location to express milk in private.

Maine Employers Must Provide Sexual Harassment Training Annually

Maine law requires employers to annually provide their employees with notice of the employer’s sexual harassment policy. The employer’s policy must contain, for example, the definition of harassment (with examples), the employer’s internal complaint mechanism, the Maine Human Rights Commission’s complaint process, and an anti-retaliation statement.
