Rhode Island Allows Electronic Wage Statements

Overview: Rhode Island amends law to allow employers to provide all wage statements and records electronically.

Details:
On June 28, 2018, Governor Gina M. Raimondo signed into law Senate Bill 2597-a (SB 2597-a) allowing employers to provide wage statements and records electronically. However, the employer must furnish a printed or handwritten record to an employee, in lieu of an electronic record, at no cost to the employee, when a written authorization from an employee is provided to the employer.
