House Bill 567 is effective Aug. 28, 2025.
Minnesota Expands Break and Meal Period Requirements Monday, August 4, 2025 | Comprehensive Service Minnesota has enacted legislation that will expand the rest break and meal period requirements under state law. The changes take effect Jan. 1, 2026.
Minnesota Clarifies and Amends Paid Sick Leave Law Monday, August 4, 2025 | Comprehensive Service Minnesota has enacted legislation (Senate File 17), which clarifies and amends aspects of the state’s paid sick leave law. Most amendment provisions took effect on July 1, 2025 with one exception, which will take effect on Jan. 1, 2026 as indicated below.

Maine Adopts Pay Requirement for Reporting to Work Monday, August 4, 2025 | Comprehensive Service Maine has enacted legislation that will require employers to pay employees for a certain amount of hours if they are asked to report to work and are sent home early. The change is a result of the enactment of Legislative Document 598 and takes effect on Sept. 24, 2025.
Court Blocks Early Termination of Haiti TPS Monday, August 4, 2025 | Comprehensive Service A U.S. District Court judge has issued an order temporarily blocking the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) from ending TPS protections for Haitian nationals early. Under a previous announcement from DHS, TPS for Haiti would have terminated early on Sept. 2, 2025. The court order reinstates a prior expiration date of Feb. 3, 2026. DHS has appealed the order.
Colorado Clarifies Protections for Gender Expression Monday, August 4, 2025 | Comprehensive Service Colorado has enacted legislation that clarifies the state’s prohibition on discrimination based on an individual’s gender expression. The clarification is a result of the enactment of House Bill 25-1312 and is effective immediately.
Washington State Modified Hospital Workers Meal and Rest Break Requirements Monday, June 30, 2025 | Comprehensive Service Washington state Governor Bob Ferguson has signed House Bill 1879 (HB 1879) into law, which modifies meal and rest break requirements for hospital workers. The law takes effect Jan, 1, 2026.
