On November 8, 2016, voters in Arizona and Washington were asked to consider Ballot Initiatives that would provide constituents in those states with paid sick leave, and both initiatives passed.

On Election Day 2016, voters in North Dakota, Florida and Arkansas approved new medical marijuana use laws, while voters in California, Maine, Massachusetts, and Nevada approved new recreational marijuana use laws.
