Payroll Alert: Labor Day Payroll Schedule

ADP would like to remind you that Labor Day, Monday September 5, 2016 is a bank holiday.  The Federal Reserve will be closed as will our offices.

To ensure timely employee direct deposits we recommend you accept and approve your payroll 72 hours prior to pay date.  Payrolls processed less than 72 hours to pay date could experience late funding of employee direct deposits and tax deposits, and a delay in the delivery of your payroll package.

 

IRS Releases Draft of 2016 Instructions for ACA Reporting Forms

On August 1, 2016, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) published its draft of 2016 Instructions for Forms 1094-C and 1095-C. In addition to some noteworthy new items, many topics from the 2015 instructions were clarified. The draft 2016 Forms 1094-C and 1095-C were previously released on July 7, 2016. Chicago to Require Paid Sick Leave

The Chicago City Council has approved an Ordinance (O2016-2678) that will require employers to provide paid sick leave to employees beginning July 1, 2017.

In a continuous review of statutory requirements, ADP has determined that if an employer is making contributions for an employee, to either a medical or health savings account, not part of a Cafeteria 125 plan, the amount of the employer's contribution is excluded from disposable earnings when calculating a court-ordered support lien.

EEOC Regulatory Update

As previously reported, in January 2016, the EEOC first announced proposed changes to the EEO-1 report that would require certain employers to report pay data and hours.  Taking into account the public comments provided by employers on the EEOC's initially proposed changes, the EEOC has issued a revised proposal.  Comments to the latest proposal must be submitted by August 15, 2016.
